I am fortunate to have acquired a small portfolio of drawings by May Louise Greville Cooksey amongst which is the original pencil study for the lilies that appear in the painting Maria Virgo. The drawings number about a dozen and appear to have been done while she was in Rome and Florence in 1902-03.
This very painting is to be part of an exhibition at the Russell-Cotes Museum and Art Gallery in Bournemouth later this year, entitled enigmatically 'Dangerous Women"
Wow, this is the most beautiful painting I've seen for ages! Thank you for blogging it!
